Overview

HelixED Biosciences was a startup focused on providing affordable biotechnology laboratory kits for education and early-stage research. The company aimed to make hands-on biotechnology learning accessible by offering low-cost, modular kits that enabled students and educators to perform fundamental laboratory experiments without the need for expensive equipment or complex lab setups. The team was shortlisted at the 2015 IdeaSpace Startup Competition, placing within the top 5% of 1,028 entries nationwide. This recognition highlighted HelixED’s potential for impact in STEM education and validated its vision of democratising biotech training for schools, universities, and developing research communities.

Contribution

I served as the Co-Founder and CEO during the ideation phase of HelixED. I led the product design and development of our affordable biotechnology laboratory kits and worked closely with two other co-founders, our CTO and COO, to craft and refine our entry for the 2015 IdeaSpace Competition.
