HandExos
Hand Exoskeleton for Brain-Computer Interface Training
Overview
As part of my PhD research, I designed and prototyped a low-cost robotic hand exoskeleton to provide enhanced kinaesthetic stimulation during motor-imagery BCI-VR training. I developed the device based on key design criteria for functionality, wearability, and safety, resulting in a BCI-VR-robot prototype capable of actuating hand movements while being tracked in physical space and accurately represented in a virtual environment.I validated the device by measuring its maximum joint angles, confirming that they were within the normal range of motion of human hand digits. A pilot motor-imagery experiment using the integrated BCI-VR-robot system further demonstrated the feasibility and practical potential of the prototype for neurorehabilitation and BCI research.
